The Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes (IMT) is the competent authority for issuing driving licenses in Portugal. The training required to obtain a driving license varies according to the type of license required. For example, for the driving license for light vehicles (category B), the number of compulsory driving hours is 32 hours and 500 kilometers (where two hours of night driving must be observed whenever possible). In the case of the theory module, it is 20 hours (16 hours of common rules for all categories and 4 hours of specific rules for each category). [Deco Proteste]
