La limonade est une boisson composée de trois ingrédients :
- le jus de citron,
- l’eau,
- le sucre auxquels on peut potentiellement ajouter d’autres éléments.
Cette boisson rafraichissante est commercialisée via plusieurs canaux de distribution (grandes surfaces alimentaires, hôtels, restaurants, bars, etc.).
Au niveau mondial, la limonade est consommée dans de nombreux pays et les ventes de boissons de type limonade / citron vert continuent de progresser dans les principales régions du monde. La limonade est le segment du marché des boissons gazeuses non alcoolisées le plus large, sans compter les boissons au colas qui dépassent les 78 000 milliards de litres par an. En 2021, les ménages espagnols ont consommé environ 106 millions de kilogrammes de citrons vert [Statista].
En Espagne, la consommation de limonade par habitant est la plus élevée dans la Région de Murcie (5,7 kilogrammes), devant la Rioja (3,53), Navarra (3,2) ainsi que Castilla et León (3,1). En 2015, les ventes de limonade ont augmenté et, en un an seulement, elle est arrivée en tête du marché avec 9 988 millions de litres vendus [El Economista]. La consommation annuelle dans les foyers espagnols a connu une progression fulgurante en 2020 (+38,18%) après une très bonne année 2019 (+52%).
