A photo booth is a booth located in a public place where a person can take passport photos or self-portraits individually or collectively. The photo booth is a vending machine, since the service is charged in cash or, as of lately, by credit card. It is also used as a rental service in event settings. The traditional photo booth service is slowly evaporating. Instead, what is prevailing in this market are photo booth used at events where the photos taken are purely for entertainment purpose. Indeed, it is possible to rent photo booths for private, corporate, or other types of events. With this in mind, we consider two segments in this market analysis: on one hand, renting photo booth for leisure or business purposes, and, on the other hand, purchasing photos at fixed photo booth stations. 

The global photo booth market was valued at $378.25 million in 2020, and is expected to reach $810.41 million by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 11.5% during the forecasted period.

Going back to what we mentioned at a global level, Italy is experiencing an emergence in rental services for photo booth machines, which are used to entertain guests at private or corporate events. An example is given by Overthebox, an online platform which provides different types of photo booth machines for events. Therefore, in exchange for a fee depending on type and dimension, a client can rent for some hours or days a machine, aimed at giving a vintage touch to their events.

Given the success experienced by the first companies offering such service, nowadays a number of individuals are starting small activities specialized in this service. Right after the recovery from the pandemic, events are back, taking place in physical places and including lots of guests. Therefore, the possibility to give such service to guests is seen as a fun and attractive way to entertain them during special occasions, even including weddings and ceremonies.
