Founded by Sir Thomas Johnstone Lipton in 1870 It produces mainly in Sri Lanka, but also in India, Kenya, and China, and markets all types of tea (black, green, and white) and infusions. it is also active in iced tea and cold brew. Its most popular products are Lipton Yellow Label, created in 1890, and Lipton Iced Tea

The company was acquired in 1991 by Unilever in an initial joint venture with PepsiCo. Its products can now be found in more than 150 countries .
