Terrial is a French company that uses livestock effluents and organic residues from industrial activities to produce organic fertilizers.
The merger between Suez and Terrial was authorized in November 2019 (with the former taking a 32% stake in the latter). This should benefit the organic fertilizer manufacturer, a subsidiary of the agricultural cooperative Avril, whose sales had already doubled between 2016 and 2019.
[Les Echos; La croix] Suez will contribute its own compost activities to Terrial, derived from waste collection, and may subsequently increase its stake in the company to 50%.
Terrial produced around 280,000 tonnes of organic fertilizers and soil improvers in 2019, compared with 480,000 tonnes for Suez.
