Tapestry, owner of Coach, is about to acquire Capri, the parent company of Michael Kors, Versace and Jimmy Choo, for $8.5 billion.
The combined sales of the new group are expected to reach $12 billion
The group will have a presence in 75 countries.
European luxury giants such as LVMH, Kering, Chanel and Hermès have sales of €79 billion, €20 billion, €16 billion and €11 billion respectively in 2022.
Tapestry and Capri combined will have a 5.1% share of the luxury goods market, making them the world's fourth-largest group behind LVMH, Kering and Chanel.
Tapestry had previously acquired leather goods maker Kate Spade in 2017 for $2.4 billion, while Capri had acquired shoemaker Jimmy Choo for $1.2 billion.
