STEP (Société du Taxi électrique parisien) launched the first all-hydrogen cab fleet in Paris in December 2015, under the "Hype" brand, in partnership with Air Liquide.
Chaired by Mathieu Gardies, the Parisian electric cab company is now looking to expand its development, helped by the construction of new hydrogen stations in the French capital. After Orly in 2017, Air Liquide is rolling out stations in Versailles, Roissy and Grenelle.
Hype has launched a call for tenders for 130 additional vehicles, with a target of 600 cars by 2020. Hydrogen car manufacturers, particularly Toyota, are taking a keen interest in the project.
