Safran is a French group specializing in aircraft engines, rockets, aerospace and defense components. It is the result of the merger between aircraft, rocket engine and aerospace components manufacturer SNECMA, and security company SAGEM in 2005.

In 2018, Safran takes control of Zodiac Aerospace and significantly expands its aeronautical equipment activities.

Safran becomes world leader in flight controls 07/06/2024

Safran acquires the flight control and actuation business of American company Collins Aerospace for $1.8 billion.
The activities sold by Collins are spread over eight plants in Europe (France, Italy and the UK) and Asia, with 3,700 employees involved.
Microtecnica, the Italian subsidiary of the divested business, accounts for 15% of revenues with three plants. It specializes in mechanical and electronic components and services for military aircraft.
Italian defense programs in which it is involved, such as the Tornado and Eurofighter combat aircraft and the MU90 torpedo, as well as the future GCAP program, a competitor to the Future Air Combat System (Scaf) involving Germany, France and Spain.

Airbus reported an 11% increase in sales to 65.446 billion euros, with net income of 3.789 billion euros.
Safran, Airbus' main supplier, increased its sales by 22% to 23.2 billion euros, with a gross margin of 13.6% or 3.16 billion euros.
Safran's net profit was 3.44 billion euros.
Safran delivers 1,570 Leap engines in 2023, 434 more than in 2022. Safran forecasts further growth of 20 to 25% in LEAP engine deliveries in 2024.

Safran offers $1.8 billion for Collins flight orders 22/07/2023

Safran proposes to acquire Collins Aerospace's flight controls business for an enterprise value of $1.8 billion.
The acquisition covers 8 manufacturing sites, 7 of which are in Europe (mainly the UK, France and Italy) and 1 in Asia, employing 3,700 people.
By 2024, these plants are expected to generate sales of around $1.5 billion
The customers of this Collins branch are 63% commercial aviation, 25% military aircraft and 12% helicopters.
Collins is committed to generating a quarter of sales from its orders over the next few years.
Safran forecasts a 50% increase in engine deliveries by 2023.
