The mission of the Régie du Port de Plaisance de la Rochelle is to maintain and manage the marina.

The La Rochelle marina is an example of a directly managed port. The harbor authority is an EPIC (public industrial or commercial establishment) which owns the pontoons and pilings, while the municipality continues to own the infrastructure (quays, dykes, etc.). The mayor appoints the 17-member Board of Directors.

The Board's mission is to maintain the marina, welcome users and handle all the day-to-day activities of a business, including accounting and communications. It has a budget of 13 million euros (2018) and a team of 57 employees.
