Pacifica is the property and casualty insurance company belonging to the Crédit agricole group, and has been a subsidiary of Crédit agricole assurances since 2009. Its products are distributed exclusively by the regional mutuals of Crédit Agricole and LCL.

In 2020, Pacifica has over 2,100 employees and serves 8.5 million customers, 84.5% of whom are individuals and 15.5% professionals and farmers, with a total of 13.2 million policies.

Created in 1990 by Crédit Agricole's regional mutuals with the aim of developing property and casualty insurance, Pacifica initially focused on personal insurance, before diversifying into agricultural insurance, professional insurance and then commercial insurance.

In 2009, Pacifica became part of Crédit Agricole Assurances, a subsidiary grouping together all the Group's insurance activities. In 2010, Pacifica creates its own subsidiary, Viaren, specializing in repairs in kind. In 2021, Pacifica acquires a 50% stake in Europ Assistance France, and Crédit agricole assurances entrusts the latter with all its assistance activities in France.

Crédit Agricole already benefits from crop insurance reform 21/02/2023

Crédit Agricole Assurances' non-life subsidiary Pacifica, number 2 in the sector, recorded six times as many new policies as at February 11, 2023, compared with the previous year.

Average policyholder growth was 32%, with viticulture up 16% and grassland up 68%.

By the end of 2021, only 1.2% of grassland in France was covered.

The level of public subsidy of contributions has been raised to 70% in 2023, compared with an average of 62% the previous year.

Pacifica and Groupama form a virtual duopoly in the crop insurance sector.

The insurers must come to an agreement on the reinsurance pool's strategy by the end of January 2024, otherwise the government will have to decide.
