Lou Prunel is a family-run business established in 1982. The founders, Mr. and Mrs. Galant, farmers in Lot-et-Garonne, decided to convert their d'Ente plum orchards to organic farming in 1969, making them one of the pioneers of organic farming in the region.
They began processing their own prunes, marketing them in France and in health food stores.
In 2002, Laurence Boquet, their daughter, took over the business with Alain Brugalières, founder of the Vitamont company, which supplied Lou Prunel with organic prunes for its juices. The company continues to grow, while remaining a small, family-run business, and works in partnership with organic prune growers for its supplies.
