Lallemand produces yeasts, which may eventually be destined for farmers.

Lallemand was founded in Montreal at the end of the 19th century by Fred Lallemand, a young immigrant from Alsace.

In 1985, Lallemand began marketing bacteria for malolactic fermentation of wines. This led to the acquisition in 1988 of a bacteria plant in Aurillac, France. In 2006, it launched its activities in the crop protection sector with the creation of a joint venture (ITHEC) in France, followed in 2008 by the acquisition of Verdera in Finland, in 2014 of BrettYoung's inoculant business and of Bioforest in 2015.

Today, Lallemand is present through factories, distribution centers and representative offices on 5 continents and in 45 countries.
