Bought out in 1984, Lactel is now a brand of the French food group Lactalis. Lactalis markets its products in over 150 countries, with employees in around 90. Europe accounts for around 60% of sales.

Its main products are cheese (34% of sales) and drinking milk (25% of sales). Ingredients and family powders account for only 11% of sales. Lactel's main product is milk (light morning, for example). The group has been suffering from an image deficit since the contaminated milk scandal in 2017.
