Groupement des Cartes Bancaires CB, or more simply CB, is the French national interbank network, with more than 46,000 ATMs and over one million EFTPOS acceptance points.
Carte Bleue VISA is a brand often associated with CB. Indeed, all Carte Bleue cards are part of CB but not all CB cards are Carte Bleue (they can also be MasterCard). CB provides the networking infrastructure while Carte Bleue is the debit card or payment method.
The interest grouping was created in 1984 by the six founding banks of Carte Bleue, Crédit Agricole and Crédit Mutuel, CB GIE. Since 1992, all CB cards have been smart cards.
