The Abeil company is a family-run business located in Aurillac and founded in 1870. For over a century, the company, which employed up to 200 people, manufactured blankets and bedspreads. in the late 60s, it launched a new product on the French market: the "synthetic quilt", made from carded polyester fibers. A number of investments followed, resulting in sales growth of 10% a year during the 2000s.
In 2006, Abeil invested in a 6,000m2 logistics platform close to Clermont-Ferrand and the motorway network. In June 2011, the company was acquired by the German group EuroComfort, Europe's leading manufacturer of comforters, pillows and bedding, employing 4,000 people.
Since 2011, the company's investments have led to innovations in fiber processing to achieve unrivalled levels of comfort, and in 2013, the French brand returns to the market with a new visual identity, new product ranges and a new slogan.
