Terra Nova recycles electronic waste to extract rare metals 10/07/2023
- Terra Nova Développement (TND) launched Terra Nova Industries (TNI) in November 2020 to industrialize a recycling process they developed in partnership with CNRS
- TNI began by recycling continuous glucose measurement sensors for diabetics in partnership with US medical device manufacturer Abbott.
- TNI plans to recycle other used medical devices, such as pacemakers and defibrillators, at a rate of six tonnes per week, or around 300 tonnes per year.
- TND plans to build a second plant at Donchery, which will process 20,000 tonnes of electronic waste and lithium batteries.
- Only 20% of electronic boards are recycled worldwide.
