Created in 1965 by Fred DeLuca, the Subway concept offers made-to-measure sandwiches made right before the customer's eyes.

The network operates on a franchise basis, and is able to expand rapidly thanks to low start-up costs and ongoing training. Subway positions itself primarily as a healthy fast-food chain, using antibiotic-free meats and displaying the energy value of its products.
