Founded in 1927, Solar Turbines specialized in aeronautical equipment before diversifying into engine components from 1945 onwards. In 1947, the group supplied the navy with gas turbines (T-400) used as propulsion systems on its medium-sized ships.

The group was acquired by Caterpillar in 1981. Present in all Western European countries except France, Solar Turbines specializes in 3 segments: renewable energies, power generation systems and turbines. Specializing in medium-power turbines for industrial and transport customers, Solar Turbines has sold over 15,000 units in 100 countries.

The group boasts the high energy efficiency and low maintenance costs of its 14 turbines currently available for sale on the market, all intended for industrial power generation. 9 of them are suitable for transport.
