Founded in 1951, Rubie's Costume Company is an American company that designs, manufactures and distributes party supplies. Rubie's is the world leader in masquerade costume. Unlike its competitor César, which was forced to abandon licensed products in 2011, Rubie's sales are largely based on licenses (Star Wars, Batman, Superman, Marvel, Deadpool...). Rubie's also has a number of high-end non-licensed products.
The company has grown in popularity thanks to its wide selection of costumes and whimsical accessories, attracting an ever-growing customer base. Over the years, Rubie's has expanded its catalog to include items such as hats, wigs, canes and even rubber chickens. Requests for increasingly wacky and original costumes were met, further enhancing the company's reputation.
In the 90s, Rubie's secured its first license with Paramount Pictures for a range of Star Trek costumes, marking the beginning of its development as a licensed masquerade costume manufacturer. Since then, Rubie's has partnered with many major franchises including Batman, Superman, Harry Potter and Star Wars, becoming the world's leading licensed costume manufacturer.
Today, Rubie's is the world's largest designer, manufacturer and distributor of costumes and accessories, with subsidiaries in over 16 countries worldwide. The company is recognized for its expertise and has won numerous toy industry and licensing awards.
Rubie's French subsidiary was created in 1994 and has become a benchmark for masquerade costume and party accessories in France. With headquarters and logistics in Iguerande, a secondary facility near Montpellier and a network of sales agents across the country, Rubie's France is represented by a team of over 50 people working with independent party specialists and major retailers.
