Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is an international non-profit organization that defends the right of every human being to have access to free and reliable information.
Founded in Montpellier in 1985, RSF fights for the freedom, pluralism and independence of journalism, and for the defense of those who embody these ideals.
Their mandate is in the spirit of Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
RSF also intervenes to help free or evacuate imprisoned journalists, and to unblock censored sites.
RSF has been recognized as a non-profit organization in France since 1995, and has consultative status with the United Nations, UNESCO, the Council of Europe and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
The organization is financed by private donations and receives no funding that could influence its strategic and operational choices.
