Puget was founded in 1957 by Adolphe Puget.

In 1999, Puget became the best-selling olive oil brand in France

In 2001, the brand extended its range to include oils other than its classic olive oil, marketing a "fruity" oil made from black (riper) olives and a "sweet" oil made from younger olives. This range was further extended in 2004 with the launch of Puget Héritage, a more upmarket oil. This was followed in 2007 by a range of spreads, vinaigrettes and other olive oil-based sauces.

Today, the Puget brand is the market leader in France, with a market share ranging from 20% (according to QueChoisir) à 25%.

The company belongs to the Avril Group (7571 employees in 2020), which also owns Lesieur
