Batteries: green light for 1.5 billion in subsidies for a French gigafactory 04/08/2023
- Taiwanese start-up ProLogium has chosen France to build its first gigafactory for solid-state batteries.
- The European Commission has approved the 1.5 billion euros in state aid promised by Emmanuel Macron.
- This represents around 30% of the total €5.2 billion investment required for the project.
- ProLogium expects the gigafactory to have a capacity of 48 GWh by 2030.
- The company plans to open up its capital within two years via an IPO.
- In addition to ProLogium, three other gigafactory projects are under development in France: Verkor, Envision and ACC (a joint venture between Stellantis, TotalEnergies and Mercedes), all located in the Hauts-de-France region.
