Founded in 1998, under the original name Netledger, Netsuite provides software services to help manage finances, operations and customer relationships.

NetSuite is widely regarded as the first cloud software company, having been founded in 1999 and preceding Salesforce.com by about a month.

Its services are aimed at medium and large enterprises with consolidated ERP, CRM and e-commerce functionality. NetSuite groups its services into five main suites (plus one): Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), E-commerce, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and Human Capital Management (HCM). NetSuite OneWorld offers the above services as well as additional features for multinational companies such as the ability to manage multiple subsidiaries, currencies, accounting standards and tax requirements.

Oracle Corporation proposed to buy NetSuite for approximately US$9.3 billion in July 2016, with the deal closing in November 2016.

In April 2017, Oracle NetSuite Global Business Unit (GBU) announced a massive expansion plan to accelerate its international growth, leveraging Oracle's global presence. NetSuite plans to double its global presence from 10 offices in 10 countries to 23 spread across the world and including France.
