Médecins Sans Frontières is an international medical humanitarian non-governmental organization of French origin, founded in 1971. It provides assistance to populations whose lives or health are threatened by armed conflict, epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from health care. Its international office is based in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2019, the NGO was active in over 70 countries, with more than 65,000 people in the field1. It was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 19992.
