Maurel & Prom becomes Gabon's largest oil producer 16/08/2023

  • Maurel & Prom becomes the leading operator in Gabon, ahead of Total Gabon, following the purchase of Assala Energy from the American investment fund Carlyle for $730 million
  • Present in Angola and Tanzania, Maurel & Prom is now the leading operator in Gabon.
  • With this acquisition, Maurel & Prom has gone from one to nine fields in Gabon.
  • The new entity's total production in Gabon will be 56,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day (currently 15,800 for Maurel & Prom and 40,700 from Assala).
  • The transport and storage infrastructure purchased includes the Gamba oil terminal and related pipelines, which will facilitate M&P's control of the transport and distribution of all its production in the country.
