- Lhoist is a Belgian family-owned lime group founded in 1889.
- A major player in the lime market, with sales of 3.5 billion euros and around one hundred sites, including 18 in France.
- The steel industry accounts for 30% of Lhoist's business.
- Four Lhoist sites in France are among the country's 50 highest CO2 emitters.
- Lhoist plans to reduce CO2 emissions at its Rety site by 87% by 2028 through a carbon capture process.
- Total investment in decarbonization at Lhoist amounts to €160 million, of which €125 million comes from a European grant.
- Lhoist is also working on the transition from gas to biomass and the installation of photovoltaic power plants to cover 70% of its electricity needs.
