Rental of clothing boxes by subscription
Le Closet's business model is based on several pillars. Firstly, a monthly subscription allows customers to receive a selection of clothes that they can wear and then return to receive others. Then, after being rented an average of 15 times, the clothes are offered for sale at a reduced price, representing 25% of sales. Items that don't find takers are sold at the Braderie du Closet at attractive prices, while the most hard-wearing pieces are put up for sale on the Vinted platform. Clothes that are too damaged are sent to upcycling partners for a second life.
Le Closet has internalized the entire logistics process, with a custom-designed warehouse management platform. The logistics site, operated by thirty multi-skilled staff, includes services such as box inspection and verification, cleaning with high-capacity washing machines, repair by seamstresses, crease removal via a dedicated tunnel, and an automated conveyor. A garment entering the warehouse is back in stock in just 3 hours. On average, 10,000 parcels are dispatched every day, with peaks at the end of the season.
Le Closet also offers a wide range of services. Le Closet Unique, for example, is a multi-brand rental platform for special occasions (parties, birthdays, weddings), offering over 1,000 pieces from premium brands. The items offered are from mid-range to high-end brands such as Grace et Mila, La Petite Etoile, Make My Lemonade, Levis, Rains, etc., with a boutique value generally around 250 euros. With the acquisition of Le Grand Dressing, Le Closet is also targeting the men's market, thus broadening its audience.
