PRG Retail Group acquired a stake in the Grenoble-based toy manufacturer in 2010, before becoming the majority shareholder with 51% a year later.
The Gueydon family has negotiated with PRG Retail Group to take over the majority of King Jouet's capital, raising its stake to around 70% by the end of 2023.
The remaining 30% of King Jouet's capital is made up of PRG Retail Group and the arrival of three funds: BNP Paribas Développement, Garibaldi Participations and C2AD.
The group has created a joint venture with PRG Retail Group, 55% owned by the Italian company and 45% by King Jouet.
King Jouet has almost 330 stores and is expected to achieve sales of over €400 million in 2023, excluding VAT.

The Gueydon family has taken over a majority stake in King Jouet, the chain with 380 stores in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Morocco.
The Italian PRG Retail Group reduced its stake from 51% to 7%. The Gueydon family increased its stake from 49% to 70%. The balance is held by three French investment funds: BNP Paribas Développement, Garibaldi Participations (a subsidiary of BPAURA) and C2AD (a subsidiary of CASRA).
PRG Retail Group owns the Prénatal and Bimbostore baby store chains (Italian brand), the Toys Center toy outlets, also in Italy, and Toys R Us stores on the Iberian peninsula. It is owned by the Italian Artsana fund, which also owns the Chicco childcare range.
King Jouet and PRG Retail Group will continue to buy jointly from major toy suppliers.
