Ineos to produce its future electric 4x4 in Austria rather than Hambach 07/05/2023
- Ineos will produce its future electric 4x4 in Graz, Austria, in partnership with Magna.
- The Hambach plant will focus on production of the latest Smart series and the Grenadier, a combustion-powered off-roader.
- Production of the electric 4x4 will start in 2026.
- Canadian equipment supplier Magna has been providing engineering services to Ineos Automotive since 2018.
- There are two production lines at Hambach: one for the Grenadier and one for the Smart.
- Production of the Smart at Hambach will cease in 2024.
- Deliveries of the Grenadier began in March 2023.
