Fonderie de Bretagne hangs on to get out of its rut 29/11/2023
- One year after its takeover by German turnaround fund Callista, Fonderie de Bretagne (FDB), based in Caudan (Morbihan), is on the road to recovery,
- The new shareholder is therefore seeking to position the company in 4 other sectors: public works, trucks and agricultural equipment, energy and infrastructure, automotive, and "opportunity" markets such as pumps and street furniture.
- Sales are expected to reach €46.6 million in 2023, up from around €35 million a year earlier.

- Last November, Renault sold Fonderie de Bretagne for the symbolic euro to a German investment fund, Callista.
- The new owner has pledged to retain the plant's 290 jobs until at least 2025.
- Renault has promised to invest 32 million euros in modernizing the plant.
- Cumulative losses over ten years by Fonderie de Bretagne amounted to around 110 million euros.
- The 2024-2030 military programming law could influence the future of the plant.
- The modernization plan is designed to develop the production of more complex cast irons and improve part finishing.
- More than 6,400 jobs are linked to the defense industry in the Morbihan département.
