It is the umbrella organization for veterinary specialties in Europe, registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce. The EBVS comprises 27 Colleges of veterinary specialists, which in turn include more than 38 distinct specialties with more than 4,000 veterinarians active as European veterinary specialists. One of the Colleges of the EBVS is the European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM), which encompasses veterinary treatment, health care and preventive medicine of avian species, small mammals, all reptile and amphibian species, as well as wildlife and zoo health management. ECZM is therefore the College of Reference for veterinary specialties related to the treatment of exotic domestic animals[Eurogroup for Animals].
