E.ON was created following the merger of VEBA AG with VIAG, and became one of the world's largest electricity and gas production companies. Its production is based on the use of fossil fuels (approx. 65%) and nuclear power (approx. 20%). The company generates almost 60% of its sales in Germany, and around 20% in the UK. Electric power sales account for 75% of sales.
