Bioénergie du Sud-Ouest (BSO), a subsidiary of the Vertex Bioenergy Group, is the only entity in France to produce bioethanol from 100% local corn, sourced from agricultural cooperatives in south-west France. At its Lacq platform, BSO produces not only bioethanol, a local, clean and renewable energy source used as a reliable substitute for gasoline, but also DDGS, a highly sought-after raw material for animal feed due to its high protein content. The company also produces corn oil, a nutritional supplement for animal feed and a potential source of biodiesel, and purified CO2, used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. These local productions, based on French maize, meet an important national demand and contribute to reducing imports.
